For anyone interested in restoring, renovating or reforming an older property, we would recommend that you call in a builder to look over it before making any commitment to a purchase to ensure that existing foundations, walls ect. are solid. Any building can be reformed of course, but depending on the amount of work required, this can often work out more expensive that building from scratch. If the intention is to enlarge an existing property as part of the renovations, architect plans and building permissions must be obtained before any work begins, and the work declared to the town hall once finished. A Spanish speaking builder can save a lot of headaches!
