Many people visit Europe, and whether they are visiting for planned holidays or simply jetting off on a whim, the attractions to see are always mesmerizing.
Spain occupies four fifths of the Iberian Peninsula and has an astonishing environmental and cultural diversity. Within the Prado Museum visitors can find a collection of more than 4000 paintings. This museum was designed by architect Juan de Villanueva and some of the paintings found within date back to the 15th century. The Prado Museum is also one of the largest and mostly visited museums within Europe.
Park Guell is also another attraction that visitors should endeavour to see. It is spread over a 20 hectare area and was built between 1910 and 1914. Although it was never finished as planned, its intentions were to combine urban and natural landscapes. Within the Park tourists can find vast works of tiling and truly captivating buildings. Rock pillars support the roadway within the Park and a house that Gaudi once lived in has been transformed into a museum, and exhibits furniture designed by him.
Also within Spain is the Donana National Park. It is the most popular wetlands area in Europe and is going under many restoration processes to help it maintain its beauty and value. The Park is located within Andalusia, Spain and since it is full of water holes, is the ideal spot for birds to migrate. Three distinct types of ecosystems are found within the park which are the marismas, the Mediterranean scrublands and the coastal mobile dunes.
Even if visitors are going on last minute holidays to Spain they should still try to visit the Spanish capital of Madrid. This city is lively and is loaded with cultural sites. Here visitors can find the Royal Palace which dates back to the mid 18th century. Within this palace are more than 20 rooms which are all open to the public. Inside of the rooms people can find priceless tapestries, beautiful paintings, carpets, clocks, and more. The most historic square found in Madrid is the Plaza Mayor. It is enclosed by craft shops, tapas bars and many restaurants. The construction of the Plaza was finished in 1617 during the supremacy of Philip III.
